Home Defense: Use of Force and Scenario Training

“The body won’t go where the mind hasn’t”

-Unknown

This course is at our downtown location- RTTI (Rev-Tac Training Institute) 1301 3rd Street Sioux City, IA 51101 - 3rd floor of Coffee King.

This is one of the BEST courses you can attend for the money! Why? Because our instructors first discuss the federal and state laws pertaining to home defense, then get into the tactics and finally get the class involved with actual scenarios! Ask anyone who has attended this class... your adrenaline will be pumping as you “defend” your home with a high quality air-soft handgun. Then after your scenario has finished, our retired federal attorney acts as the judge, and your peers act as the jury to determine if you were justified in your use of force. Our end goal is to keep you and your family alive and keep you out of jail! This training is priceless!

To register, head to our website www.rev-tac.com and visit our "Register for Classes" tab!

Cost: $75/person or ask about our family discount for this course! (4 family members coming together receive $50 off!)

Toxic Masculinity Weekend

Toxic Masculinity Weekend

Spots are limited for this ridiculously fun “man experience”! Get signed up now!
Don’t just bring your boom-stick, grab your fishing pole, boat, atv and trunks too!
This will be a weekend you won’t ever forget!
Come out and stretch your rifle's legs! Beginner's or experienced marksmen will enjoy this opportunity to engage targets from 100-1600m (That's a mile!) Caliber of rifle doesn't matter, but it will obviously affect the range you are capable of achieving. We've had everything from .204's, .223, .243, .308, .300, 6.5, 7mm, .338, 50 and a bunch of others out here! You will learn to push the limits of whatever you bring!
Here's a quick run down of what we will cover:
*Reading wind, mirage and understanding the effect that it will have on your round.
*Ballistics: This will be down and dirty. We could teach a whole two-day class just on this, but you'd sleep through most of it!
*Range Estimation, naked eye, LRF's and milling with your reticle.
*Understanding the make up and functions of your scope. Strengths and weaknesses of your optic.
*Reading Trace
*Mils/MOA breakdown
*How to spot: The unsung hero of LRP shooting.
*Fundamentals of long range marksmanship: mastering these will pay dividends with any firearm you pick up!
*Gear and rifle setups: what works and what doesn't. By the end of this course, you will know what you love and hate about your current setup.
*Rapid Target Engagements (RTE)
*Hold-Offs, Kentucky Windage aka SWAG (Sniper's Wild Ass Guess)
*And a ton more!
Rev-Tac's lead instructors for this course are US Army Snipers and Marine Scout Snipers that manage to take the mystery out of long-range engagements, making it simple and fun! We make every shot we take during this training count, so start wrapping your head around "slow and methodical" instead of "spray and pray".
If you think you need to practice beforehand, that's ok, but worry less about distance and more about nice tight shot groups.
What to bring:
1-Layer your clothing...we start in the morning and go into the evening, so the weather will change!
2- Bring at least one scoped rifle, and 150-300 rounds per rifle. Some guys will do grouping drills with their .22 and then work with their larger caliber rifles at distance. We can hook you up with a .22 for grouping if you don't have one.
3- Bipods are nice, but if you don't have one then you will run off of a ruck or bags.
4- Water and snacks! We have a meal package to include 5 meals!
5- Bring an open mind and great attitude. We shoot in the rain or shine, so be mentally prepared for that. There will be stress shooting and some cardio on the second day, know your limits!
6- Bring the tools to tighten your optics, mounts, chassis...whatever you may need that isn't standard. Chances are, we've got it, but just in case!
****Because this course is designed to be a small even-numbered group...prepayment is required to ensure your slot. You can pay on our website at WWW.REV-TAC.COM or mail us a check to hold your spot!
Course Cost: $495
Free primitive camping!
Ask us about staying at the lodge for just $50/night!
And the top notch food package for $95!

Private Event: Church Security Awareness & Response Seminar

This is a privately scheduled event - to schedule your church, business, or group to come out for some private training - call or text us at (712) 570-5227!

This is what this (private) group is covering:

In recent years, churches have become increasingly vulnerable to targeted violence. Whether motivated by ideological differences, mental health crises, or societal unrest, attackers often view houses of worship as soft targets. It's time to change that perception—starting with awareness, planning, and informed response.

This interactive seminar is designed for church leaders, safety teams, and members who want to take proactive steps to protect their congregation. Topics include:

Understanding the Threat: Why churches are targeted—and how to make yours an undesirable target.

Formal vs. Informal Security Teams: The pros and cons of organized versus ad-hoc teams, and the role of armed and unarmed personnel.

Pre-Threat Indicators: Learn how to recognize concerning behaviors and warning signs before violence occurs. We'll examine attacker profiles, behavioral patterns, and early indicators from real-life case studies.

Trauma Management & Aftermath Response: What to do after an incident. Learn the basics of trauma care and how to emotionally and logistically support your congregation in the aftermath of a crisis.

Real-World Case Studies: Study past church attacks to understand what worked, what failed, and what could have prevented tragedy.

This seminar offers an essential foundation in church safety culture, with a peek into the mindset and responsibilities of a functioning security team. While we cannot cover everything in a single evening, this session is the first step toward readiness.

The Art and Science of Precision Reloading

The Art and Science of Reloading for Long Range Precision

Part 1: (approximately 4 hours) 8am-Noon

Rifle Reloading Basics:

This course is designed for shooters with no experience with reloading. Discussion will revolve around intended use, data collection, risk management, and equipment options including a detailed discussion on what is necessary vs just nice to have in a reloading bench. It will include a hands on demonstration of case preparation, die setup, and basic rifle cartridge assembly with long range precision in mind. This will prepare club members to use Rev Tac reloading equipment at our new reloading station.

Part 2: (approximately 4 hours) 1pm-5pm

Load Development for Long Range Precision

This course focuses on developing a rational plan to work up a load with long range precision in mind. It should benefit shooters that have taken part 1 or already have experience reloading rifle cartridges. This can be an intimidating iterative process and we do not have all the answers but we will try to simplify an approach based on validated principles.

Discuss internal ballistic factors that impact long range success.

Demonstrate the calibration and use of software to predict what chamber/powder/bullet combinations are worth trying and why.

Explore the concept of dispersion including factors that contribute to it.

Discuss some popular you tube load workup schemes based on barrel harmonics that might suffer from low sample size.

Discuss reasonable expectations and outcome measures that are useful as well as some to avoid.

Course cost: $75/session. Come to one or both! By attending this training this opens up your ability to have your specific setup looked at and tuned by our expert! Contact us for details!

Register on our website for this class! Spots are limited as this is a hands-on class!

Home Defense Tactics

Home Defense Tactics

Don't miss this great opportunity to learn the tactical advantages to home defense! This hands on training will include teaching techniques for maximizing cover/concealment during engagements, "slicing the pie", recognizing and avoiding fatal funnels (doorways, hallways and stairs). You will also work on close quarters g#n handling, decision making and processing information. We will practice singleton and two-person (spouse) room clearing tactics.
The goal of this class is to get people familiar with these tactics. You will get to put in some reps and practice before going into some force-on-force scenario based training to see if you can apply the tactics you learned under pressure!
Why is this course different than our Home Defense: Scenario Based Training? Well that class focuses on the laws surrounding home defense, creating emergency plans and how to make your home an undesirable target..with a little shoot house at the end to see if you understand when you can and can't use deadly force. That's a GREAT class, but doesn't teach tactics. So you will want to attend both of these Phil Freiberg!

Course location: RTTI downtown Sioux City (Not at our range)

Course Cost: $75/person. (Level 2 range memberships include this class) You DON'T have to be a range member to attend any of our classes! Come learn!

What to bring: Notepad, water, sweatshirt or long sleeve, gloves, athletic footwear that you can move around in. I'd wear pants!

What to expect: Air-soft can leave a bruise. It's a quick reminder that you did something "wrong" or the bad guy got lucky. Either way, it's an amazing teacher and worth experiencing. Why? Knowing that pain may be involved if you "mess up" causes your brain to dump the same chemicals it would dump in a critical incident. Learning to operate under those stressors will greatly improve your decision making during a critical incident. This type of training is invaluable!

Church Security Pistol Tactics

Church Security Pistol Tactics

If you don't recognize this picture ^^^^ and you're on your church's security team, we need to talk. Why? There's a good chance that you are too relaxed about your obligation to the congregation. This picture is from an attack last Sunday in Michigan. I'd bet you a dollar that their church security team never thought they'd actually ever have to do their job. But they did. You need to be studying previous attacks, attackers and staying sharp on your skills to perform accuracy under pressure. Hopefully we see you on July 14th for the church security seminar and then July 15th for the Pistol Tactics class.

You need every advantage you can get when your church is attacked. And the body won't go where the mind hasn't...so train for the fight.

What to expect:
This isn't a basic pistol class. You will need to have a solid understanding of firearm safety, and be able to handle your firearm safely from a holster during this training. We will review safety standards at the beginning so everyone is on the same page.
This class will run through utilizing cover/concealment, timed draws from your holster, engaging moving targets, shoot/no-shoot drills, multiple target engagements, pressure drills, HR concepts, elevated heart-rate shooting and more. This is level 1 stuff as far as tactics go, but they are as up to date as you can get...so the stuff you used to do back in the day as a ________ (fill in the blank) is good, but not cutting edge. Stay sharp! We can build on these principles if your team desires...but this is the best place to start.

What to bring:
-Range clothes you can get dirty.
-Ear/eye protection (prescribed glasses are fine and so are sunglasses)

-Quality working handgun.
-150-200 rounds.
-Quality concealable holster carried inside your waistband or outside your waistband on your strong side. No cross draw, cloth holsters, pocket holsters or drop leg holsters. You can reach out to us if you aren't sure if you have a decent holster for this or not. Having a holster made of Kydex is good starting standard.

Course cost: $75/per person and class size is limited.
Register at: Www. Rev-Tac.Com

Church Security Seminar

Church Security Seminar

6:00PM - 9:00PM

Share this with anyone who would benefit from attending!

For many years now, churches have been an "easy" target for active killings. Why? There are a lot of reasons, but simply put, it's a large group confined to a space that normally has different opinions, values and beliefs than the person wishing to do them harm. Combine that with a growing mental health crisis and political unrest...and you have the need for creating plans and procedures for your church.

This seminar covers the options- formal or informal security teams...armed and unarmed... discussing the benefits and draw backs to each. We study past attacks, pre-threat indicators (the signs and signals that people can help but display), and we create a "profile" through past attackers of the behaviors you are looking for.
We then discuss what it takes to make your church an undesirable target...to hopefully avoid the threat all together.

This seminar dips it's toes into the mindset and tactics of a security team, but cannot possibly cover everything in one evening. Catch the follow up class to this (see our event calendar at www.rev-tac.com) in order to begin building an armed security team. Or you can reach out for custom training opportunities for your church specifically at: Timgrover@Rev-Tac.Com

Encourage you pastor, elders, members...anyone who has questions about this to attend! Have people already carrying to defend your congregation? Awesome! But they should attend the CHURCH SECURITY PISTOL TACTICS class we have July 15th, 2025 from 6-9pm. It's really important to understand your ACTUAL capability with a gun, not just HOPE you have the skills to protect others. Confidence kills. Audit your skills...especially if you are on a church security team.

Seminar details:

Location- Rev-Tac Classroom (1545 Knox Blvd Jackson NE, 10 min from the Sioux City mall)

Time: 6pm-9pm. Snacks and dinner is welcome...eat while we talk!

Cost: $50/person. (Level 2 range members can attend for free)

AR Low Light/No Light

AR Low Light/No Light

So many of us plan on using an AR for personal defense in our homes or out in public. One of the considerations that needs to be thoroughly trained on is not having an outside light source (the sun, house lights, etc) to illuminate your threat and how you operate your rifle. We will focus on low-light and no-light scenarios, operating your equipment "blind" by feel, PID (positive Identification) of threats, light discipline and more. This is a time to see what works and what other people are using as well! You will have a blast and learn a ton!

What to bring:
AR with a zero already (need it zeroed first? Reach out ASAP to make a time to do that with us!)
2+ mags
Sling
100 rounds
Weapon Mounted Flashlight and/or other darkness defeating devices you may want to try.
Ear and clear eye protection
Note taking material
Appropriate clothing to work both in and outside- dress for the weather!

Register on our website for this class. Max students: 10.
Cost: $225

Lodging available at Rev-Tac!
You can also stay on site at Rev-Tac's excellent lodging for $40 per night.
Contact Tonya for details: (712) 570-5227

We'll start at 8:30 am and go till around 5:30 pm both days.

This Fighting Handgun Concepts: Speed, Accuracy, Movement, Unconventional Positions, Decisional Engagements & Defending Others is a training course intended for those who are already safe, proficient handgun handlers and shooters.

This is NOT a beginner's course and is intended for those who are ready to move beyond basic shooting to build a fast, efficient draw stroke, put one to multiple rounds on target with either acceptable or precise accuracy at speed, and ultimately be able to do so under the movements common to defensive gun uses.

Beyond helping grow each person's individual shooting skills, the primary goal of this training course is to help prepare those who might have to defend and fight for life itself when in compromised positions and situations.

This is not a course where the shooters stand static with a perfect stance while shooting at immobile targets. Therefore, once it is verified everyone can safely handle and shoot their handguns, and after some precision work, movement will be introduced on the first day, often in close quarters to others.
This is a fighting handgun course that comes directly from personal experience of being involved in multiple deadly force incidents and having witnessed multiple others.

The topics will cover areas to include: impacts in relation to height over bore and bullet trajectory at varying distances, acceptable accuracy to extreme precision shooting, learning and growing realistic and legally-defensible fight speeds with a handgun, gun handling and shooting on the move with accurate shooting, building to the explosive movements needed in fights, one-handed handgun use from an injured fighting perspective, high-stress physical exertion shooting, shooting from unconventional positions and moving up and down and at all points of the compass while safely handling a handgun, shooting in defense of others, moving, controlling and/or shielding others while using a handgun, close contact shooting, gun handling and engaging threats in close quarters with others nearby, decisional engagements, vehicle use, and more.

We will start with safety, then handling and accuracy to find the skill of the group as a whole before moving to extreme precision, then into building or refining an efficient draw stroke with accuracy and recoil management, finding and stretching each attendees' personal limits based on abilities. Movement and shooting will be introduced both at distance and up close to targets and in close quarters with others.

From there, we will expand by involving groundwork, unconventional positional shooting, shooting on the move, dealing with and protecting others, and a lot more.

This is a moderately physical course and, using the training involved, attendees need to be able to move up and down off the ground and from varying awkward positions multiple times while safely handling a loaded firearm and working through situations that will carefully grow in complexity.

This will be a thoughtful, safe approach in training, allowing everyone attending to safely experiment and work through the entire course, and grow an understanding of how dynamic a fight really is, and how to use their bodies and firearms to best defend themselves and those they love if unfortunately ever in the worst-case scenario.

Needed items:
Handgun (or more in case the primary handgun goes down)
Reliable, quality holster & three magazines (Holsters from AIWB 0r strong side carry)
(***Note on holsters: NO Serpa or similar holsters, NO purse holsters, NO pocket holsters, NO bra or cross draw holsters, NO ankle holsters, NO floppy or soft nylon holsters, etc.)
At least 400 to 500 rounds of ammo but feel free to bring more.
Handgun cleaning supplies (you and your weapon will be getting dirty)
Eye & ear protection
Any wanted snacks & non-alcoholic beverages
A brimmed hat
Ink pen, permanent marker, and any wanted note-taking materials
Weather appropriate clothing for an outdoor environment
Any wanted snacks and non-alcoholic beverages
A lunch, as there will not be time to leave the range for lunch.
$25 range fee per day in cash

Optional Items:
A durable mat or knee/elbow pads wanted (you will be working from the ground at times on hard packed dirt and gravel so you may want such items for comfort)
A camping type chair (one that that can take a small amount of abuse)
Any sunscreen & bug spray wanted

Those attending will also engage in decisional engagement situations, responding to complex threats and will also need to explain the physical and legal justification(s) for their actions or non-actions.

This course is considered moderately physical and will require thoughtfulness and constant mental and safety awareness; ultimately growing confidence and ability to defend life with a gun to even higher level.

This FHC will be taught by Adam Winch, Defenders USA’s founder and lead instructor. Adam is a certified Master Instructor and RDS instructor, with many more instructor certifications, and is a nationally recognized firearms instructor. He also has an extensive background in real-life dangerous situations as both a law enforcement officer and in the military where he had to use these skills to defend life.

Handgun Speed, Accuracy & Movement - Defenders USA

The Handgun Speed, Accuracy & Movement is being taught by Adam Winch with Defenders USA. This is an outside instructor, we are just the host for this course! You must register/pay with Defenders USA!

This training is perfect for the civilian, military, LEO shooter, or competitor who wants to develop their speed and precision from the holster, either concealed or open carry. This is excellent for those who seek to refine in both areas beyond where most training goes, working from either duty gear or from concealment.
This course intended for those who already have the skills of basic handgun safety, handling and fundamentals, although we will spend time there as needed.

Of note, if you’ve not attended a pervious course with us or do not demonstrate solid proficiency at the beginning of this training course, the instructor can and will, at their discretion, ask you to complete a short proficiency handling and shooting test that is standardized.

We’ll start at 8:30 am at the Rev-Tac Gun Range and end around 5 pm.

Range Fee:
There is also a Range Fee of $25 per day that will need to be paid in cash prior to the start of the course, so please bring that with you.

Lodging available at Rev-Tac!
You can also stay on site at Rev-Tac's excellent lodging for $40 per night.
Contact Tonya for details: (712) 570-5227

As the title says, this day will focus on building the ability to get a urgent first shot from the holster, and then follow up shots, while also being as accurate as the varying targets dictate. We’ll work on accuracy first and into extreme accuracy, then build in speed that is efficient in technique. We will then introduce doing all this while moving, refining the skills learned in movement.

A quality holster is a must in this course, so if you aren’t sure if your holster is of decent to good quality, contact us as soon as possible, because if you need a good holster, it will take some time to order one and get it shipped to you.

If you want to get a holster for before this class, we enthusiastically endorse Haven Defense Co. and we’ll help you select a high-quality holster versus the less-than-good ones in the majority of local gun stores.

Haven Defense Co.
970-987-3471

Doing this course from concealment is recommended but open carry is also just fine, especially for those with duty or competition gear.

This will be a thoughtful, careful training session in order to build skill at efficient speeds. We will be focused completely on getting the objectives of this class exactly right and repeatable for each shooter, with expert nuisances built into grip, stance, platform, excellent and speedy draw strokes, and high precision, both up close and at distance, and while shooting in movement. We will also have a focus on helping the students to understand how to diagnose their own work so they can continue refining their abilities long after this class.

Items & information needed:
Handgun
3 magazines
350 to 500 rounds of ammunition
Holster & sturdy belt (preferably a quality holster – feel free to call with any holster questions), drawing from AIWB or strong side carry.
***NO Blackhawk SERPA holsters or of similar design, NO collapsible holsters, NO sticky or pocket holsters, NO bra holsters, NO shoulder holsters, and NO purse holsters (call with any questions or for any exceptions).
Closed-toes shoes
No shirts with plunging neck lines
Eye & ear protection
Ink pen, permanent marker, and any wanted note-taking materials.
This is an outdoor range, so whatever clothing layers needed for that day.
Any snacks and anything you want to eat or drink throughout the day. We will take a short lunch break and it is advisable to bring a lunch with you as we will not have time to leave the range to go get lunch.

Optional items & information:
Hat with a brim
A chair
One or two magazine pouches

We will be picking up the brass on the range and your assistance in doing so would be greatly appreciated.

This course will be taught by Defenders USA’s founder and Lead Instructor, Adam Winch. Adam is a certified Master Instructor and RDS Instructor (with multiple other instructor certifications), along with an extensive Law Enforcement, military, and a firearms trainer background.
