Tired of relying on your smartphone or GPS? Learn the time-tested skill of land navigation from the same experts who have trained snipers, rangers, infantry, cavalry, and special mission units. Now it’s your turn to challenge yourself on the same terrain and master a skill that could save your life—or just impress your buddies.

Land Navigation is a skill anyone can learn, young or old, and with practice, it becomes second nature. After completing this course, you can continue practicing on your own!

What You’ll Learn:

Map reading & point plotting

Pace counts

True north vs. magnetic north

Route selection

Identifying terrain features & terrain association

Dead reckoning

What to Expect:

-1 hour of classroom instruction to cover the basics

-Hands-on practical exercises to build confidence and skills

-Final test-out: You’ll navigate and find 5 points on your own

Be prepared to cover approximately 5 miles on foot over steep, uneven terrain. Wear appropriate clothing and ensure you’re in decent physical shape to reduce the risk of injury.
